Aster altaicus

Aster altaicus ~ Dmitry Poltavsky

Aster altaicus is a plant in the family Asteraceae, native to a wide range of regions, including Iran, the Himalayas, Siberia, Mongolia, northern China, and Korea. The genus name Aster derives from the Ancient Greek aster (“star”), reflecting the star‑like arrangement of its florets. The specific epithet altaicus points to the Altai Mountains, where the species was first found and described. In traditional Chinese medicine, parts of Aster altaicus are used to treat respiratory and inflammatory conditions.
